Guaizihu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Zheng Shaochang et al in 1987 (please see Zhu Hong et al, 1987). The type section is located at about 500 m away from 40° southeast of the Hongwula triangle survey point in Ejin Banner (Dalain Hob), Nei Mongol Zizhiqu. The reference section is at the Danmianshan Mt. (102°36′54″E, 41°38′58″N) area in Ejin Banner.

Lithology and Thickness
The formation, 165 m in thickness, can be subdivided into three parts. Lower part is interbeds of thin-bedded siliceous rock with pelitic slate; the base is thin-bedded sandy pelite and hydromica pelite. Middle part is composed of pelitic slate and siliceous rock. Upper part consists of thin-bedded pelitic slate.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformed with the underlying Danmianshan Fm of the Upper Ordovician [Not in current Ordovician lexicon entries].
Upper contact
It is dis-conformable with the overlying Lower Permian strata.
Regional extent
It is confined in Badain Jaran of western Inner Mongolia in distribution.

Fossils
It bears rich graptolite, the main elements of which are as follows: Oktavites spiralis, Monoclimacis griestoniensis, Streptograptus crispus, Spirograptus turriculatus, Rastrites linnaei, Monograptus cf. sedgwickii, Petalolithus palmus, Climacograptus sinuatus, C. cf. miserabilis, Parakidograptus, Pseudoclimacograptus extremus.
