Guaizihu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Zheng Shaochang et al in 1987 (please see Zhu Hong et al, 1987). The type section is located at about 500 m away from 40° southeast of the Hongwula triangle survey point in Ejin Banner (Dalain Hob), Nei Mongol Zizhiqu (Coordinate: 103°50′E, 41°29′N). The reference section is at the Danmianshan Mt. area in Ejin Banner (Coordinate: 102°36′54″E, 41°38′58″N).

Lithology and Thickness
The formation, 165 m in thickness, can be subdivided into three parts. The lower part--interbeds of thin-bedded siliceous rock with muddy slate; the base--thin-bedded sandy mudstone and hydromica mudstone. The middle part--muddy slate and siliceous rock. The upper part consists of thin-bedded muddy slate.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformed with the underlying Baiyunshan Fm of the Upper Ordovician
Upper contact
It is dis-conformable with the overlying Lower Permian Shuangbaotao Fm.
Regional extent
It is confined in Badain Jaran of western Inner Mongolia in distribution.

Fossils
It bears rich graptolite, the main elements of which are as follows: Oktavites spiralis, Monoclimacis griestoniensis, Streptograptus crispus, Spirograptus turriculatus, Rastrites linnaei, Monograptus cf. sedgwickii, Petalolithus palmus, Climacograptus sinuatus, C. cf. miserabilis, Parakidograptus, Pseudoclimacograptus extremus.
